TSC Warns Public Against Fake Teacher Recruitment Notice Circulating on Social Media

The Teachers Service Commission has raised the alarm over a fraudulent notice that has been making rounds on social media claiming that the commission is recruiting over twelve thousand new teachers to replace those who have exited the service due to unavoidable circumstances.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, June 30, TSC moved quickly to dismiss the letter and cautioned members of the public to disregard the information entirely.

The fake letter alleged that the commission was seeking to fill teaching positions across primary, junior, and secondary schools, with an application deadline set for July 20, 2026.

According to the fraudulent notice, TSC was allegedly advertising eight thousand four hundred posts for primary schools, thirty-two posts for academics, and four thousand two hundred posts for Senior Schools.

However, TSC has now clarified that it is not currently seeking to recruit teachers on permanent and pensionable terms, nor is it trying to replace teachers who have left the service for personal reasons.

The commission has expressed serious concern about the spread of misinformation and has urged job seekers and the general public to be cautious about falling victim to recruitment scams.

TSC emphasized that people should only rely on official communication channels of the commission when seeking information about recruitment opportunities, vacancies, and other important announcements.

The commission has also provided eligibility requirements and application procedures through its official website to help the public access authentic information.

This warning comes at a time when President William Ruto has made significant announcements regarding teacher employment.

Starting from July 1, the President announced that close to twenty thousand teachers who have been serving on contract terms over the years would be hired on permanent and pensionable basis.

Additionally, Ruto revealed that the government would recruit twenty-four thousand new teachers this year alone, which would bring the total number of teachers recruited since 2022 to one hundred and twenty-four thousand.

The President explained that these newly recruited teachers would initially be employed on contract terms before being transitioned to permanent and pensionable positions.
