Parliament Rejects Mbadì's Nominees for NG-CDF Board

It was a rough day at the National Assembly as Members of Parliament threw out four nominees who were supposed to sit on the National Government Constituencies Development Fund Board.

The nominees were sent to Parliament by Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadì but MPs said they did not meet the qualifications needed to manage this important public fund.

The four who were shown the door are Komora Yvonne Nsunsu, Manyanga Yvonne Boyani, Mutua Fidelis Kiketi, and Morris Putita Kaaka. MPs felt these individuals did not have what it takes to oversee the billions of shillings that go to constituencies across the country.

This is a big blow because the NG-CDF is one of the most closely watched funds in Kenya. Every constituency gets money from this kitty for development projects, and Kenyans want to be sure the people managing it are above board.

The rejection now means that the Treasury CS has to go back to the drawing board. He must find new names and submit them to Parliament for approval before the board can be fully constituted and start its work.

This move by MPs shows they are serious about protecting public resources. They are telling the Executive that they will not just approve anybody without proper scrutiny, especially when it comes to funds that touch the lives of ordinary Kenyans.

The NG-CDF Board plays a very important role in making sure money meant for development reaches the grassroots. It is responsible for approving projects and ensuring there is accountability in how the funds are used.

With these four nominees rejected, the board remains incomplete and cannot function fully. This could slow down some projects if the fresh list is not submitted and approved quickly.

MPs are now waiting to see who CS Mbadì will bring next. They have made it clear that only qualified people will get their nod. This is a test for the Treasury CS to show that he can pick the right people for this sensitive position.
