ODM Leaders Hit Back at Critics, Defend UDA Alliance During Busia Meeting

Senior ODM leaders have come out strongly to defend their party's political cooperation with President William Ruto's UDA party, telling off critics who they claim are trying to cause confusion within the party for their own selfish gains.

The leaders, who included party chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga,Kisii Governor Simba Arati, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, Busia Governor Paul Otuoma, and Secretary-General Catherine Omanyo, were speaking during an ODM youth convention held in Busia County.

They urged party members to stand firm and remain united, while warning them against leaders who they said are busy spreading division within the party for personal political mileage.

The ODM bigwigs also took a swipe at politicians associated with the "Linda Mwananchi" faction, accusing them of pursuing their own selfish interests instead of focusing on what really matters to ordinary Kenyans.

According to the leaders, the party's ongoing engagement with UDA is all about ensuring ODM gets a bigger slice of government positions and development projects, especially if President Ruto gets re-elected for a second term.

In a clear message to their rivals, the ODM officials made it crystal clear that they have no intention of forming any political alliance with Rigathi Gachagua's DCP party insisting that they are fully committed to their current political path.

The Busia meeting comes at a time when there has been growing debate within political circles about ODM's closeness to the ruling party, with some members expressing concerns while others fully backing the move.

But going by the strong words from the party's top leadership, it seems they are determined to push ahead with their strategy, no matter what their critics say.

The leaders maintained that their priority remains the welfare of Kenyans, and they will not be distracted by what they termed as empty noise from those who have nothing better to offer.
