Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2025 Results to Be Released on this Date

The Ministry of Education has officially announced that the highly anticipated results for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will be released tomorrow, Friday, January 9, 2026.

Cabinet Secretary for Education, Julius Ogamba, is scheduled to announce the results at a ceremony in Eldoret beginning at 9:30 a.m. This release follows the completion of the national examinations, which commenced on October 21 and concluded on November 21, 2025, involving approximately 996,000 candidates across the country.

The announcement confirms the Ministry's adherence to the traditional January release timeline. In a recent statement, CS Ogamba emphasized this tradition, saying, “The KCSE examination results will be released within the next two weeks. Traditionally, the KCSE examinations are normally announced in January, and we are keeping it to that tradition.”

Online Portal Activated for Access

In preparation for the release, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) activated an online results portal two days ago. According to the Ministry, the early activation is a standard procedure to ensure the system is fully functional and capable of handling the expected massive traffic.

A notice on the portal clearly states that the KCSE results can only be accessed once the Ministry of Education makes them public. Once released, candidates will be able to view their provisional results by entering their index numbers and examination year on the platform.

CS Ogamba Dismisses Early Release Rumours

The build-up to the official announcement was marred by misinformation on social media, with claims circulating that the results had already been secretly released. CS Julius Ogamba directly addressed these rumours in a statement on Saturday, January 3.

“Treat such fake and misleading news with the contempt it deserves,” Ogamba cautioned, flagging a specific false post. He firmly dismissed the claims, urging the public to rely only on official communication from the Ministry.

A Crucial Milestone for Students

The KCSE examination is a critical juncture for Kenyan students, determining their transition to universities, colleges, and other tertiary institutions. The release of the results marks the culmination of years of secondary education for nearly one million candidates and their families.

All eyes are now on Eldoret, where the official figures, national performance trends, and the way forward for the 2025 cohort will be unveiled tomorrow morning.

Candidates and parents are advised to ignore any unverified sources and obtain their results exclusively through the official KNEC portal after the formal announcement by the Cabinet Secretary.
