Waititu Sentenced After Court Finds Him Guilty Over Sh588.7 Million Kiambu Road Tender

Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been handed a sentence by the Anti-Corruption Court after he was found guilty in a corruption case linked to the irregular award of a Sh588.7 million road tender during his time in office.

Chief Magistrate Harrison Barasa, sitting at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court, delivered the sentences on charges that arose from the controversial procurement of a roads contract by the Kiambu County government.

On Count 10, the court fined Waititu Sh10 million, or five years in prison if he fails to pay. On Count 11, he was ordered to pay Sh6 million, with a four-year jail term in default. On Count 12, he was fined another Sh5 million or four years' imprisonment.

The court did not stop at the former governor. It also sentenced his co-accused, among them his wife, Susan Wangari Ndung'u, and other individuals connected to the case.

The companies that were part of the case were also fined. They were directed to pay within 14 days from the date of the ruling.

All the parties have 14 days to file an appeal if they are not satisfied with the court's decision.
