President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto were in Mwanza, Tanzania, on Friday, November 6, 2026, to see their daughter Charlene get married to Isaya Yunge, a Tanzanian entrepreneur. The white wedding took place at Malaika Beach Hotel, with family, friends and leaders from both Kenya and Tanzania in attendance.
One moment that many guests will remember was when the President and Mama Rachel walked Charlene down the aisle together. Photos and videos from the ceremony show the proud parents on either side of the bride as she made her way to the altar, while the guests looked on, clearly touched.
Charlene wore a white gown with floral details on the bodice and the skirt. Her long veil trailed behind her as she walked. Isaya kept it classic in a creamy-white suit, a crisp white shirt and a black patterned tie. The President matched the family's colours in a deep burgundy jacket with contrasting lapels, a cream shirt and a black bow tie, while Mama Rachel wore a long white dress with burgundy and brown floral patterns.
Charlene's siblings were also there. Nick, George, June and Nadia joined the family, and videos from the event show her sisters Stephanie, June, Nadia and Cullie among the bridesmaids, all dressed in red gowns.
The guest list had many familiar faces from Kenya's political scene. National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen and Health CS Aden Duale all attended with their spouses. Ambassador Mama Ida Odinga was also present. Other leaders spotted at the event included Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, together with other leaders from both the government and the opposition.
The church service was led by the Africa Inland Church in Tanzania. The two families came together for prayers as Charlene and Isaya exchanged vows and made their union official.
After the ceremony, Charlene also posed for official wedding portraits in a different look. This time she wore a white midi dress with delicate cap sleeves and a long veil trimmed with lace. She added statement gold earrings, a diamond ring and a wristwatch. Her white heels were decorated with tulle bows, and she carried a small bouquet of baby's breath flowers tied with a white satin ribbon. Isaya stayed in his cream suit for the pictures.
The wedding comes after the couple's traditional Kalenjin engagement ceremony, known as Koito, which was held in August 2026 at the Ruto family's Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County.
