Molo Murder Suspect Kept in Custody for 21 Days as Court Sets Arraignment

Detectives investigating the death of Molo Secondary School student Joy Wangui have been given 21 more days to hold the main suspect, Walter Kipkoech, as they continue with their work. The High Court made the order, which gives police time to complete forensic investigations, a post-mortem review and mental assessments of the suspect.

Joy, 18, was a Form Four student at the school in Nakuru County. Her death has shocked residents of Molo, where many people knew her as a bright and well-mannered young woman. Her family and friends are still struggling to come to terms with the loss, and many have called on the police to ensure justice is done.

Kipkoech, 23, is expected to be formally arraigned in court on October 27, where he will be asked to respond to murder charges. Until then, he remains a suspect, and the case will be heard in court before any finding of guilt is made.

Community leaders in Molo have urged parents and young people to pay attention to the safety of teenagers in relationships and to report any threats or violence to the authorities quickly. They have also asked the public to avoid spreading unconfirmed details about the case, saying such posts can affect the investigation and hurt the family.
