Armed Robber Nabbed in Saika Salon Heist that Left Women in Shock

In a swift operation that has brought some relief to residents of Saika, Nairobi, detectives from Kayole Police Station have arrested one of the two criminals behind a brazen July 26, 2026 robbery that turned what should have been a peaceful chama meeting into a nightmare.

The arrested suspect, Dennis Macharia, also known as Mahua, was brought to book following an intelligence-led operation in the Korogocho area. His capture marks a significant breakthrough in a case that has left many women traumatised and questioning their safety in public spaces.

According to detectives, the robbery was executed with chilling precision. The suspect and his accomplice, who remains at large, stormed into the salon while heavily armed with a pistol. The two men didn't waste time with threats or negotiations.

They went straight for their targets a group of unsuspecting women who were gathered for what they thought would be just another regular chama meeting. The robbers made off with Sh50,000 in cash and several mobile phones, leaving behind only fear and anger.

When detectives moved in to arrest Macharia, they recovered crucial evidence that could help build an airtight case. A motorcycle bearing registration number KMDE 473B, believed to be the getaway vehicle used during the robbery, was seized.

Investigators also recovered two knives that are now being held as exhibits. These pieces of evidence paint a clear picture of the level of violence and premeditation involved in the crime.

The suspect is currently in custody undergoing processing ahead of his court arraignment. However, the investigation is far from over. The Directorate of Criminal Investigation is actively pursuing leads to track down Macharia's accomplice, who managed to escape and remains at large.

Detectives are calling on members of the public with any information about the second suspect to come forward, assuring them of confidentiality and protection.

For the women whose peaceful gathering turned into a traumatic experience, this arrest offers a glimmer of justice. But police say their work isn't complete until both suspects are behind bars.
