Wamumbi Fires Back at Gachagua Over Oil Kalou Incident, Says He Wasn't Even There

Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi has strongly responded to claims made by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua regarding events that took place in Oil Kalou, insisting that he had already left the venue long before any confrontation happened.

In a heated statement released on Tuesday, Wamumbi made it clear that he was not present when the alleged chaos broke out at Royal Garden Hotel. According to the Mathira lawmaker, he had departed the premises approximately 20 minutes earlier, suggesting that Gachagua's narrative about what happened is completely off the mark.

Wamumbi went further to point fingers at Gachagua's camp, alleging that the former Deputy President's personal assistant and other close associates arrived at the venue and started attacking women leaders.

He specifically mentioned that female Members of County Assembly and a woman legislator from the East African Legislative Assembly were targeted in the incident.

The MP did not hold back in his criticism, claiming that Gachagua's team had earlier made plans to disrupt any meetings associated with his political faction.

He accused the former Deputy President of choosing to engage in politics of confrontation rather than conducting peaceful campaigns ahead of the upcoming elections.

Wamumbi has now called on Gachagua to change his approach and focus on campaigning for his preferred candidates through proper legal and democratic channels.

He urged the former DP to abandon what he termed as chaotic politics that only serve to divide people and create unnecessary tension in the political scene.

However, it is important to note that the claims being made by both leaders have not been independently verified. Neither side has provided concrete evidence to back up their version of events, leaving Kenyans to wonder what exactly transpired at the Royal Garden Hotel in Oil Kalou.

As the political temperatures continue to rise in the country, many are watching closely to see how this war of words between the two leaders will unfold.

Political observers have warned that such public clashes could escalate if not addressed properly, especially with the electioneering period heating up across the nation.
