The security operation targeting a group of "Jobless Group" in Marachi area, Busia County, will continue until the main suspects believed to have fled to neighboring countries are arrested.
County Commissioner Stephen Orinde has made it clear that security agencies will not ease their efforts in restoring peace and ensuring all those involved face the full force of the law.
Speaking to journalists in Busia town, Orinde addressed the ongoing security operations in Marachi where a group of youth known locally as the "Jobless" have been causing concern among residents.
The Commissioner said the operation has been intensified following intelligence reports linking the group to various criminal activities within the area and across the border.
Orinde also dismissed claims circulating in the area about a curfew being imposed in Marachi, explaining that residents have not been restricted from moving around at night.
He clarified that what people are seeing are just routine police patrols aimed at improving security and protecting lives and property.
The Commissioner urged residents not to panic over the presence of security officers in the area, saying their safety remains a top priority.
The County Commissioner emphasized that the police will not rest until they have arrested all the suspects, including those who are believed to have crossed into neighboring countries to hide.
He called on members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by providing any information that could lead to the arrest of the wanted individuals.
Residents of Marachi and the wider Busia County have been urged to go about their normal activities while security agencies continue with their work.
Orinde assured the community that the police will maintain their presence in the area for as long as it takes to ensure the situation is fully under control.
