Murkomen Declares All-Out War on Gachagua, Vows to Monitor His Every Move Until 2027

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has escalated his political war of words with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, issuing a stern warning that security agencies will keep a constant watch on the DCP leader's activities until the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a weekend rally at Kaptarakwa Primary School in Keiyo South, a defiant Murkomen directly took aim at Gachagua, accusing him of leading a camp actively trying to sabotage the security sector and destabilise the country.

The Interior CS declared that the era of regional balkanisation was officially over and warned that no politician has the right to create "no-go zones" anywhere in Kenya.

"Those launching sustained, negative attacks on the Interior Ministry including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua are exhibiting a lack of statesmanship. They are driven purely by selfish, parochial desires," Murkomen said.

In his strongest remarks yet, Murkomen made it clear that Gachagua had become his number one priority.

"Rigathi Gachagua, my business now until Kenya crosses 2027 safely is to monitor your activities in the Republic of Kenya. Hiyo kazi nitafanya usiku na mchana, you're my single most point of focus because of the threat you're posing as the father of violence," the CS declared.

The Interior CS also made serious accusations against the former deputy president, claiming that Gachagua has been collecting money from political aspirants and using those funds to influence political activities and organise goons.

"I want to tell Gachagua and his surrogates very clearly: You will not intimidate me, nor will you intimidate this government. We have the full mandate and the machinery required to deal with security threats by all lawful means," Murkomen warned.

The bitter exchange comes just days before the highly anticipated Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election scheduled for July 16 in Nyandarua County.

The constituency has become an unlikely battleground between President William Ruto and his former deputy turned bitter rival, with both parties seeking to demonstrate their strength in the electorally consequential Mt Kenya region.

Gachagua's DCP has nominated Sammy Kamau Ngotho to contest against President Ruto's UDA candidate, Samuel Muchina. The former DP has been holding nationwide consultations at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri while campaigning for his party's candidate.

This is not the first time the duo have clashed. Last week, Murkomen took on the former DP, accusing him of being the "goon number one in Kenya". "I will separate Gachagua, who is a bad apple, from the good people of Kenya. I'm on his case daily until Kenya crosses over to 2027 peacefully. His only remaining currency is violence," Murkomen said.
