Our Junior Starlets have done it again! The young lionesses put on a masterclass performance away from home, beating South Africa 2-0 in the first leg of the final World Cup qualifier.
The match went down at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday, and our girls showed no fear whatsoever.
From the first whistle, the Kenyan team looked like they meant business. They controlled the game well and made sure the South Africans had no room to breathe.
This victory has now put us in a very strong position to book our tickets to Morocco for the big tournament later this year.
Now here is the good news for all of us back home. Our girls only need to avoid losing by three goals or more in the return leg at Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday.
If they can hold their own, we will be celebrating another historic qualification. The fans are already making plans to pack the stadium and give our girls the support they deserve.
Many of us still remember the magic of 2024 when these same girls made history by becoming the first Kenyan football team ever to qualify for a FIFA World Cup in the Dominican Republic.
They were the talk of the nation, and now they have a chance to do it again. These young stars are showing that Kenyan football is truly rising.
The return match promises to be a cracker. The Bantwana will definitely come at us with everything they have, but our girls have shown they have the character to handle the pressure. Coach and the entire technical team will be preparing the squad well for this decider.
All eyes will be on Nyayo National Stadium this Saturday. Kenyans should come out in large numbers and cheer our champions. We have seen what these girls can do, and we believe they can finish the job.
Let us rally behind them and make sure they feel our support from the stands. The dream of another World Cup is right there for the taking.
