Uganda's Military Boss Says He Blocked Kenyan Lawyer Martha Karua From Entering Country

Uganda's Chief of Defence Forces General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has come out to reveal that he personally ordered the deportation of Kenyan opposition lawyer Martha Karua. The general made these remarks recently, explaining that he took the action on his own without his father President Yoweri Museveni's involvement.

In his statement, Muhoozi was clear that his father should not be blamed for what happened to Karua. He emphasized that he made the decision all by himself to prevent the lawyer from entering Uganda. The general wanted to make it clear that this was his personal call and not something that came from the top leadership of the country.

The Ugandan military chief went further to warn that Martha Karua will not be allowed back into Uganda in the future. He also stated that the Kenyan opposition party leader will be denied entry into the country permanently. This means the lawyer, who is known for her work in the opposition space in Kenya, will have to stay away from Uganda for the foreseeable future.

The move has drawn attention to the growing tensions between Kenyan opposition figures and some officials in the East African region. Martha Karua, who is a prominent figure in Kenya's political landscape, has been at the center of various political activities back home.

Her deportation from Uganda adds another chapter to the complicated relationship between opposition members and some leaders in neighbouring countries.
