President Museveni Reveals First Lady Janet's Earlier Health Scare

President Yoweri Museveni has broken his silence about the health challenge that affected First Lady Janet Museveni earlier this year. Speaking during celebrations to mark his wife's birthday, the President disclosed that the 78-year-old First Lady fell seriously ill on March 21, 2026, and attributed her recovery to divine intervention and medical care.

Museveni did not provide specific details about the exact nature of the illness, but he described the situation in spiritual terms.

According to the President, he characterized the health crisis as a spiritual attack that ultimately failed to achieve its intended purpose. He credited both God and medical doctors for playing crucial roles in saving the First Lady's life.

During his remarks at the birthday celebration, the President used language that suggested he viewed the incident through a spiritual lens.

He stated that a malevolent force had attempted to harm his wife, but that the attack was unsuccessful because of divine protection and expert medical intervention. The First Lady has since made a full recovery and is in good health.

The disclosure comes after weeks of public speculation about the First Lady's well-being and whereabouts. Government officials had largely remained silent on the matter, which led to various rumors and concerns circulating among Ugandans who had expressed worry about her health.

Museveni's statement appeared aimed at reassuring the public and putting to rest any lingering concerns about the First Lady's condition.

By confirming her recovery and attributing it to both spiritual and medical factors, the President addressed the speculation that had dominated conversations in recent weeks.

The First Lady has since resumed her public appearances and is actively carrying out her duties as the nation's First Lady.
