ODM's Sunday Rally in Busia Face New Hurdles as Youth Issue Fresh Threats

Tension is rising in Busia as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) finds itself in a tricky spot. The party is now reportedly thinking twice about holding its planned Sunday rally in the county, with fears that things might get out of hand.

What is happening right now is that a group of youth, who claim to be ODM supporters, have come out openly to say they will not sit back and watch. These young people, many of whom are from "jobless group" within Busia town, have been sending warning signals to Governor Otuoma for some time now, telling him to keep off Busia town.

One youth leader, William Onyango, who describes himself as both a representative of Jobless Group and a member of ODM, made it clear that if Oburu Odinga plans to set foot in Busia on Sunday, he should be prepared for a very different kind of welcome.

"If Oburu Odinga is coming to Busia on Sunday, he should know that the situation on the ground is not good. That day, he will see there is a serious problem in Busia," Onyango warned.

What makes this situation even more tense is the defiance in the youth's tone. Onyango went further to say that they are not afraid of what might happen to them, losing their lives.

This is not the first time ODM is facing such difficulties in Busia. Since Governor Otuoma took over the county leadership, the party has been struggling to hold successful rallies within Busia town. The ground seems to be shifting, and the youth are not hiding their frustrations with the governor's administration.
