Governor Waiguru Dismisses Viral Separation Claims with Lighthearted Response

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has rubbished widespread social media claims that she has separated from her husband, constitutional lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo.

The governor responded to the viral posts on Saturday with a humorous tone, making it clear that the stories circulating online have no basis in reality.

In her response, Waiguru dismissed the speculation in a lighthearted manner, saying she could not possibly be abandoned, especially in the cold weather conditions of Gichugu.

She posted a message in Swahili-English mix, addressing her husband directly and making it clear that the couple remains together. The post showed her using humor to shut down what she viewed as baseless gossip.

The viral claims that swept across social media platforms had painted a detailed picture of Waiguru's relationship with Waiganjo. According to the unverified posts, the couple first met during the constitution-making period around 2009, when they both worked as consultants in the process that led to Kenya's 2010 Constitution.

The narrative suggested they maintained regular contact over the years, meeting in Nairobi and eventually getting engaged in 2019, before the stories claimed they had quietly parted ways.

However, Waiguru's public statement appears to have effectively silenced the speculation. By responding directly and dismissing the reports with good humor, the governor signaled that the allegations were nothing more than unfounded rumors.

Her quick response prevented the claims from gaining further traction, and her tone suggested she was unbothered by the online chatter. The incident highlights how quickly unverified stories can spread on social media, and how public figures sometimes choose to address such claims directly to set the record straight.
