Fresh Storm Erupts Over Gachagua Impeachment Judgment

A new legal storm is brewing just days after the High Court confirmed former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment. This time, it is not about politics or evidence  it is about missing pages.

Lawyers representing one of the petitioners have raised a serious alarm. They claim that the judgment copy given to the parties is incomplete. According to them, the judges read a 350-page ruling in open court on June 8. But three days later, what landed in their hands was a different story  only 286 pages, and none of them even signed.

You can imagine the confusion. A judgment that long, missing sixty-four entire pages. The lawyers are now demanding the full document, the typed court proceedings, and even the audio and video recordings of the session. They argue that without the complete judgment, they cannot prepare properly for their appeal.

What is even more worrying is the effect on public trust. The lawyers have warned that this kind of discrepancy  between what was read in court and what was released  shakes the confidence Kenyans have in the justice system. And honestly, many wananchi watching this saga from home are already wondering: if the courts cannot get their own paperwork right, how can we rely on their verdict?

So far, the Judiciary has not said a single word in response. No statement, no clarification, no apology. That silence is making people even more anxious.

This fresh twist could open another difficult front in the already high-stakes impeachment battle. Both sides are getting ready to appeal, and now they do not even agree on what the judgment actually contains. A dramatic development indeed  and one that could stretch this constitutional drama even further.
