EPRA Announces New Fuel Prices: Diesel Drops by KSh 10, Petrol Down Slightly

Good news for Kenyan motorists and businesses as the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority has announced a significant drop in diesel prices for the coming month.

In the latest review covering June 15 to July 14, 2026, EPRA has reduced the price of diesel by a whopping KSh 10 per litre. Super petrol has also gone down a little bit by 22 cents, while kerosene remains at the same price.

From midnight tonight, Nairobi residents will buy super petrol at KSh 214.03 per litre, diesel at KSh 222.86 per litre, and kerosene will stay at KSh 191.38 per litre.

The government says it has used about KSh 10 billion from the Petroleum Development Levy Fund to cushion consumers, especially on diesel and kerosene. This subsidy means that even though the cost of bringing diesel into the country went up slightly in the international market, Kenyans will still pay less at the pump.

According to EPRA, the landed cost of super petrol dropped from US$906.23 per cubic metre in April to US$901.16 in May. Diesel became a bit more expensive to import, going from US$1291.98 to US$1294.71 per cubic metre, but the government subsidy has helped bring down the final price for consumers. Kerosene landed cost also went down a little from US$1332.73 to US$1328.36.

The new prices include VAT and other taxes as required by law. EPRA has reminded the public that these are maximum retail prices, meaning no petrol station should sell above these amounts for the next 30 days.

Dr Joseph Oketch, the acting Director General of EPRA, says the authority remains committed to protecting both consumers and investors in the energy sector. The new prices take effect immediately and will be in force until mid-July.
