Busia Political Heavyweights Set to Hold Secret Talks Over Senator Omtatah’s Seat

Former Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong is preparing to host the current governor, Paul Otuoma, at his rural home in Okiludu, Teso. The meeting is expected to take place in the coming days, and sources say the two leaders will discuss how to work together ahead of the 2027 general election.

The main target of their possible political deal is Senator Okiya Omtatah, who is known for his tough stance against leaders and his active role in the courts. Ojaamong and Otuoma believe they can form a strong alliance that would give them a better chance to take over the senatorial seat.

This move did not come out of nowhere. Just days ago, Governor Otuoma publicly announced his support for Ojaamong’s senatorial bid. That endorsement was a clear sign that the two former rivals are now willing to put their past differences aside and join forces against a common opponent.

Ojaamong served as Busia governor for two terms. He has been eyeing a political comeback, and the Senate position seems to be his next target. On the other hand, Otuoma is still serving as governor, but analysts say he wants to have strong allies in the Senate to push his county agenda.

Senator Omtatah has not yet responded to the planned meeting. However, his political allies say he is not worried because he has a strong support base across the county, especially among young voters and civil society groups.

The Okiludu meeting is expected to be private, but details may leak once the two leaders agree on how to share political power in the county. For now, all eyes are on Teso as Ojaamong prepares to open his doors for what could be the beginning of a major political realignment in Busia.
