Police have launched investigation into the Mysterious Deaths of Soldier and Elderly Woman

Police in Kenya are investigating two separate and mysterious deaths that have left families and neighbours searching for answers.

The first case involves a Kenya Defence Forces soldier identified as 44-year-old Elizabeth Wanjiru. She was attached to the Department of Defence headquarters in Nairobi.

Her body was found at her home in Juja, Kiambu County, on the outskirts of Nairobi City. Family members said she had not been answering their calls for some time. Worried relatives went to check on her and found the house locked from the inside. They were forced to break in.

Once inside, they discovered Wanjiru lying on a sofa in a pool of blood. Investigators said she had visible marks on her face that were consistent with electrocution. Police and military officials have now launched a joint inquiry to find out exactly what caused her death.

Her body was moved to the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital Mashujaa Funeral Home, where a postmortem will be carried out.

In a second incident, a 77-year-old woman named Margret Wambui Nyoike was also found dead in her home under suspicious circumstances. She lived alone, and authorities say efforts to trace her family members are still ongoing.

According to reports, her door was found open. Her body was lying on the floor. Around her neck was a scarf, and investigators found evidence of strangulation. There was also a footprint on her chest.

Her body was moved to a mortuary as law enforcement agencies continue their investigations.

The soldier’s death follows a similar incident that is already under investigation in Sagana, Kirinyaga County. Authorities have not yet said whether the two cases are linked, but they have confirmed that all possibilities are being examined.
